Kenneth A. Martindale
Ken joined GNC as Chief Executive Officer in September 2017. Prior to joining GNC, Ken served as the CEO of Rite Aid Stores and the President of the Rite Aid Corporation, where he was influential in implementing the company’s new store format and the expansion of their loyalty program.
He spent his early career with growth-oriented companies such as Smith Food and Drug, Fred Meyer, and Kroger. He then spent significant time leading companies facing industry headwinds through turnarounds, such as Pathmark Stores and Rite Aid.
During his time at Pathmark, he worked to reposition the company’s merchandising and marketing strategies and made tremendous progress on reducing expenses and increasing profitability. After joining Rite Aid as the Senior EVP of Merchandising, Marketing, and Logistics, he quickly proved his ability to lead the team to reposition the organization and enhance the customer experience. Due to his ability to drive results, he was named Senior EVP and Chief Operating Officer in 2010, was promoted to President and COO in 2013, and was named the CEO of Rite Aid stores in 2015.
